Who we are

Tucked into the hills of Cragg Vale—just a wander down from the old Hinchliffe Arms—sits our little community shop. It’s the sort of place where the door’s always open and someone’s bound to ask how you’re doing before you’ve taken off your coat.

Inside, crates of just-picked fruit and veg sit beside shelves of everyday bits and bobs. The cake stand is never empty for long, the coffee is fresh, and there’s always a pot of tea on the go—ideal for a quiet breather or a chat with whoever’s at the next table.

Now and then we push the tables aside for community fun days: children racing around, neighbours trading stories, everyone pitching in to make it feel like home. And don’t be surprised if our resident welcoming committee turns up—alpacas Mario, Luigi and Pedro, plus Dolly and Daisy the donkeys are partial to the spotlight.

So whether you live up the lane or you’re just exploring the Calder Valley, drop by. It’s a small place, but it carries the heart of the village—supporting local growers, bakers and, most importantly, each other.
